    Dr. James Underberg is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York University (NYU) School of Medicine, Director of Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine at the NYU Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease at NYU Langone Medical Center, and Medical Director of the Primary Care Lipid Clinic at Bellevue Hospital Center, all in New York, NY.

    Dr. Underberg received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine, in New York, NY.

    Dr. Underberg serves as Co-Editor of the newsletter for the National Lipid Association, LipidSpin, and is on the editorial board for multiple journals including Primary Care Special Edition and Journal of Clinical Lipidology. He is Fellow of the Society of Vascular Medicine and Biology, the American College of Preventative Medicine, the American College of Physicians, the National Lipid Association, and the Royal Society of Medicine.

    Dr. Underberg’s major areas of research include preventive cardiovascular medicine, hypertension, and lipidology. He lectures on and maintains an active clinical research program in clinical lipidology, cholesterol management, and inherited lipoprotein disorders.

    Dr. Underberg has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the field of Clinical Lipidology. He has published recent articles in Circulation, Journal of Clinical Lipidology, and Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
